KARACHI, Oct 08 (APP):Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has intensified efforts to fast-track the launch of the Electric Taxi Service and Pink Taxi Service, key initiatives aimed at establishing a modern and eco-friendly transport system across the province.
The development comes following a high-level meeting on Wednesday with a delegation from a leading multinational electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer. The delegation briefed the minister on the company’s EV models, features, and advanced technologies.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zamin, Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, Trans Karachi CEO Fawad Ghaffar Soomro, and other senior officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharjeel Memon reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to modernizing the transport sector through public-private partnerships. “The adoption of electric vehicles is essential to offer citizens safe, clean, and sustainable travel solutions,” he said.
He added that the provincial government aims to build a robust electric transport infrastructure, and emphasized the investment potential in related sectors such as EV charging stations, maintenance networks, and other support services.
The minister assured that the government is working closely with the private sector to create an investor-friendly environment, offering full support and protection to potential investors. He highlighted the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone as a prime example, where investors enjoy multiple incentives, including a 10-year tax holiday.
