KARACHI, Nov 02 (APP):Speaker of Sindh Assembly Syed Awais Qadir Shah on Sunday said that the Sindh Assembly has always played a leading role in legislation for freedom of expression and media rights.
In his message on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, he said that free and responsible journalism is the foundation of a strong democracy.
Shah said that attacks on journalists are an assault on justice and democracy.
Without freedom of the press, democracy remains incomplete, he said adding that journalists are the eyes and voice of society, their respect and protection are essential. Pakistan Peoples Party has always stood firm for press freedom and journalists rights, he added.
