LAHORE, Nov 16 (APP): The Punjab Police remained on high alert and provided foolproof security for Christian worship and prayer programmes held in churches across the province, including Lahore.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar had earlier directed RPOs and DPOs to further enhance the security of churches and instructed supervisory officers to personally inspect security measures at churches and other important locations. He emphasized deploying additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches, while Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite Force teams were tasked with effective patrolling in surrounding areas.
Dr. Usman Anwar directed the deployed officers and personnel to remain extremely vigilant and maintain strict surveillance of any suspicious activity. He also ordered continuous search and sweep operations around churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive places to ensure law and order.
The IG Punjab added that religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and peace committees should continue their role in promoting interfaith harmony.
