SARGODHGA, Nov 09 (APP): In Sargodha, the 148th birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet of the East, was celebrated with national enthusiasm on Sunday.
Major events took place at Company Bagh and the Arts Council, where Commissioner Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan Awan, Deputy Commissioner Capt (retd) Muhammad Wasim, senior philosopher and educationist Haroon-ur-Rasheed Tabasam, and other dignitaries participated in a cake-cutting ceremony.
The participants offered Fateha for Iqbal’s departed soul and prayed for the progress and unity of the country. They paid rich tributes to Iqbal’s services for the Muslims of the subcontinent, emphasizing the lasting impact of his poetry.
Haroon-ur-Rasheed, speaking at the event, highlighted how Iqbal’s poetry inspired a sense of freedom among the Muslims of the subcontinent. Meanwhile, students and attendees at the Arts Council engaged with displays of Iqbal’s personal belongings, showing keen interest in his legacy.
Educational institutions also organized special programs in honor of Iqbal Day, including speech and poetry competitions, further celebrating the enduring influence of Allama Iqbal’s vision and philosophy.
