Sacrificial animal markets set up across Hazara

ABBOTTABAD, May 29 (APP):Sacrificial animal markets have been established across the Hazara Division in preparation for Eid ul Adha. However, the number of buyers remains limited due to the unprecedented surge in prices this year.
Vendors from various regions have brought in a wide variety of animals, including goats, sheep, cows, and camels. Despite the abundance of livestock, market activity has been sluggish, as many potential buyers find the prices beyond their reach.
Traders cite inflation, rising transportation costs, and increased fodder prices as key reasons behind the steep rates. “We have spent a lot on feeding and transporting these animals. Prices had to go up,” said a livestock dealer in Haripur.
Buyers, on the other hand, are expressing frustration. “Even average-sized animals are being sold at exorbitant rates. It’s becoming difficult for middle-class families to fulfill this religious obligation,” said a local resident in Mansehra.
With Eid ul Adha just weeks away, traders are hopeful that sales will pick up, but concerns persist over affordability and access for the average consumer.
