RAWALPINDI, Nov 10 (APP):The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has completed cleanliness arrangements for the Pakistan–Sri Lanka cricket series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and deployed additional sanitary workers and supervisors to ensure a clean environment throughout the event.
According to an RWMC spokesman, the company has undertaken comprehensive cleaning operations inside and outside the stadium, including Double Road and the parking areas. He said the staff would remain on duty during and after the matches to maintain cleanliness standards.
Waste bins have been placed from Faizabad to Double Road to facilitate proper waste disposal.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said the RWMC’s “Suthra Punjab” campaign, launched under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, was continuing vigorously across the division to keep both urban and rural areas clean.
Under the drive, mechanical sweeping and washing of major roads and streets have been intensified, and water sprinkling is being carried out to suppress dust and reduce smog formation.
The RWMC has appealed to citizens not to burn waste or chemicals in the open, terming it a major cause of smog. The company also reminded residents that open burning of garbage is a legal offence, as it produces smoke and dust harmful to the environment and public health.
For any cleanliness-related complaints, citizens may contact the RWMC helpline at 1139, the spokesman added.
