SUKKUR, Aug 28 (APP):The Rohri Excise and Narcotics Department has achieved a significant breakthrough in its fight against narcotics, confiscating 120 kilograms of high-quality charas and apprehending a suspect here on Thursday. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics, Mukesh Kumar Chawla.
According to details, ATO Qamaruddin Sial and his team conducted a raid based on a tip-off and intercepted a Hino truck (TKY-139). During the search, 120 kilograms of high-quality charas, valued in crores of rupees in the international market, were recovered. The suspect, Suwar Khan, son of Gul Madar Khan, was arrested on the spot, and the truck used for smuggling was seized.
A case has been registered against the suspect under Crime No: 16/2025 Excise PS Rohri Circle, and further investigations are underway. ATO Qamaruddin Sial stated that the department is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and that smugglers and dealers will not be spared.
Provincial Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla has praised the Excise Police team for their successful operation and directed them to continue their efforts in the fight against narcotics. “This significant achievement is expected to help dismantle smuggling networks and curb the flow of narcotics in the region.”
