MULTAN, Jul 22 (APP):Sudden death of a teacher in Lahore during lecture triggered a timely decision by Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Fuad Hashim Rabbani ordering
Rescue 1122 to impart training to students and officials from all government departments and private entities on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to enable them intervene timely to save lives.
“Every individual should be trained on employing CPR that can save lives in cases of heart attack, electric shock or drowning,” Fuad Hashim Rabbani said in a meeting with District Emergency Officer Dr Hussain Ahmad Mian who called on him at the ACS office. Both reviewed strategies to strengthen first aid preparedness among the public.
Rabbani referred to the recent incident in Lahore where a teacher suffered sudden cardiac arrest during a lecture and passed away. He described the incident as a wake-up call, highlighting the urgency to promote CPR training.
He said, South Punjab administration had decided to introduce CPR training across educational institutions, offices, and other key organizations. Giving details on the go-ahead strategy, he said, the training campaign is being launched in collaboration with Rescue 1122, initially targeting schools, colleges, and universities, and later to cover all major public and private institutions across South Punjab.
District Emergency Officer Dr Hussain Ahmad Mian termed the decision a timely and impactful one, noting that CPR training could help save valuable lives during emergencies. He said that CPR helps restore breathing and heartbeat.
It is a skill that every citizen must possess, he added. On the occasion, CPR training was imparted to the officers and staff of the South Punjab Secretariat.
