Ensure timely maintenance of houses; 6. Clean rooftops, drains, and water outlets to prevent accumulation; 7. Seek shelter during rain while traveling and avoid driving through floodwater; 8. Do not drive cars or motorbikes through flowing water; 9. Stay away from power installations; 10. In case of emergencies, immediately call Rescue 1122 at helpline 1122.
Addressing the potential flood risk, DEO Ubaidullah Khan stated that the rising water levels in the Indus and Chenab rivers indicate a possible flood threat to Muzaffargarh, particularly from the western side along the Indus. In response, Rescue 1122 has finalized its flood emergency preparedness across the district. He added that Emergency Response Teams equipped with flood rescue gear have been deployed in vulnerable low-lying areas and settlements at risk of flash floods. Moreover, private boats and launches operating near riverbanks have been provided life jackets by Rescue 1122 in accordance with the district administration’s directives. Boat operators have also been instructed that no individual should board without a life jacket, in order to avoid major emergencies.
Through the media, the DEO urged residents to fully cooperate with authorities in case a flood warning or emergency evacuation is issued. He advised people to relocate immediately to the nearest flood relief camps to ensure the safety of their lives and property.
