ABBOTTABAD, Jan 17 (APP):In light of the snowfall and rainy weather in the hilly regions of Abbottabad, Rescue 1122 has released important safety guidelines to ensure the well-being of local travelers and tourists. District Emergency Officer Muhammad Arif Khattak has urged everyone to follow these instructions for a safe journey through Galiyat, Ayubia, and Nathia Gali.
Travelers were advised to ensure that their vehicles were mechanically fit before embarking on their journey. This includes checking tires, engines, and lights to avoid breakdowns in challenging weather conditions. Additionally, it is essential to stay updated on the weather forecast and avoid traveling during severe weather.
Extreme caution should be exercised in landslide-prone areas, with strict avoidance of parking vehicles in such zones. During rainfall or snowfall, drivers are advised to maintain low speeds and adhere to speed limits to prevent accidents. Tourists are encouraged to carry extra supplies of food, beverages, and warm clothing to manage unexpected delays or extreme cold.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, overtaking and random parking in hilly areas must be avoided. Travelers using vehicle heaters should keep their windows slightly open to allow fresh air circulation and prevent suffocation. Furthermore, vehicles should be equipped with snow chains to ensure safe travel on snow-covered roads.
Rescue 1122 personnel were also stationed at various key points in the region to assist travelers. Cooperation with these emergency teams is essential for timely support and guidance. For any emergencies or assistance, travelers were directed to contact the Rescue 1122 helpline by dialing 1122.
