QUETTA, Dec 29 (APP):The Regional Meteorological Center Balochistan has forecast widespread unsettled weather across the province from the night of December 29 through December 31, warning of intermittent rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas.
According to the Met Office, the weather system is expected to affect several districts, including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Harnai, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Sibi, Loralai, Musakhail, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chaghi, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, and Kharan.
It added that on Monday, most parts of the province are likely to experience cold and dry weather, while northern districts may face severe cold conditions. During nighttime hours, scattered areas in Zhob, Kalat, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Awaran, Chagi, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, and Kharan may receive rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms, with light snowfall expected in hilly regions.
On Tuesday, cold and partly cloudy conditions are expected to prevail across much of Balochistan. However, several districts including Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Noshki, Zhob, Kalat, Barkhan, Musakhel, Turbat, Gwadar, Jiwani, Lasbela, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Panjgur, Khuzdar, Washuk, and Kharan are likely to experience rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas.
The Meteorological Center reported that no rainfall was recorded in any district of the province during the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, Kalat recorded the lowest minimum temperature at minus 2 degrees Celsius, indicating persistently harsh cold conditions.
Authorities have advised residents to take precautionary measures in view of the cold weather, potential snowfall, and adverse weather conditions, particularly in northern and mountainous regions, to avoid any untoward incidents.
