LAHORE, Jul 15 (APP):In line with the Drug-Free Punjab campaign, the Police said on Tuesday that they had arrested 32,275 suspects in 57,000 raids across the province during the last six months.
A spokesperson for the police department said that significant quantities of narcotics were seized from the accused, including, 18,898 kg cannabis, 1,638 kg heroin, 981 kg crystal meth, commonly known as ice; 2,296 kg opium and 464,641 litres liquor.
In Lahore, 6,596 drug peddlers were apprehended and contraband which include: 3,393 kg cannabis, 298 kg heroin, 528 kg ice, 253 kg opium and 40,556 litres liquor wererecovered.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, has ordered further acceleration of special operations against drug dealers and smugglers.
He directed police officials to bring all those involved in the drug supply chain to justice.
