Punjab Food Authority destroys large quantity of expired chemicals, imposes heavy fine

MUZAFFARGARH, Dec 23 (APP): Food Authority action, large quantity of expired chemicals destroyed, heavy fine imposed
Punjab Food Authority, during a major operation at a sugar mill in Sinanwan area of ??Kot Addu, seized the mill for using expired chemicals in the production of sugar. The expired chemicals were destroyed and a heavy fine was imposed.
According to a Food Authority spokesperson, a food safety team of the Food Authority, led by the Director of Operations and Deputy Director of Operations of the Food Authority South Punjab, conducted an operation at a sugar mill in Sinanwan area of ??Kot Addu and recovered 200 kg of chemicals and other items expired since 2024 and destroyed them.
A fine of Rs. 500,000 was also imposed on the sugar mill. According to the DG Food Authority South Punjab, during the inspection, in addition to the presence of expired chemicals, poor hygiene and storage arrangements were also found.
On this occasion, the DG Punjab Food Authority said that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, indiscriminate action is being taken to suppress elements hostile to health.
