LAHORE, Dec 19 (APP):A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Friday between the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and a private broadcasting organisation to launch nationwide public awareness campaigns on citizen-centric public safety initiatives.
Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar and Chief Executive Officer of the private broadcasting organisation, Duraid Qureshi, signed the MoU at a ceremony held in Lahore.
Under the agreement, both organisations will jointly run special awareness campaigns highlighting key initiatives of the PSCA, including the Virtual Blood Bank, Mera Pyara Center and other public safety services. The MoU aims to strengthen awareness regarding Emergency Helpline 15, the Virtual Women Police Station, Mera Pehchan Center, Women Safety App and Public Safety App.
According to a PSCA spokesperson, comprehensive awareness campaigns will also be conducted across various social media platforms to ensure effective outreach, particularly to the younger generation. Public service messages and advertisements related to PSCA initiatives will also be aired on HUM News.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar termed the agreement a positive step, stating that the collaboration would significantly enhance community policing, blood bank services and initiatives for the protection of women and children. He added that partnerships with the private sector help improve communication and public engagement.
Managing Director PSCA Ahsan Younas said that the Virtual Women Police Station had so far provided assistance in more than 750,000 cases, while the Mera Pyara Center had successfully reunited over 53,000 missing children with their families.
CEO HUM News Network Duraid Qureshi said that under the MoU, a joint nationwide awareness campaign would be launched to highlight public facilitation initiatives of Punjab Police and PSCA through awareness programmes, advertisements and digital campaigns.
The ceremony was also attended Chief Operating Officer Mustansar Feroz, Chief Admin Officer Amara Athar and other senior officials.
