MUZAFFARGARH, Nov 07 (APP): Police foiled an attempt to murder three minor girls and arrested an elderly man involved in the crime during a swift operation near Basti Gharyal, officials said on Thursday.
According to details, officers from Head Bakaini Police Station reached the scene after receiving a tip-off from a passerby and found three young girls lying critically injured with deep forehead wounds. The attacker, identified as Khadim Hussain, son of Abdul Rehman and a resident of Bikaini, attempted to flee while threatening the police with a weapon but was overpowered and taken into custody.
The First Information Report (FIR) stated that the complainant, Muhammad Hanif, son of Muhammad Sharif and resident of the Fish Market area, earned his livelihood by begging along with his children in the Bakaini area. Khadim Hussain, another beggar, reportedly grew resentful over Hanif’s presence in his territory.
In retaliation, Hussain allegedly kidnapped Hanif’s two daughters — 13-year-old Shazia and five-year-old Chand Bibi — along with his three-year-old niece, Kajul, daughter of Iqbal. He then took them to a nearby jungle and attacked them with a sharp-edged dagger, leaving them severely wounded.
Police shifted the injured girls to a local hospital for urgent medical treatment, where their condition was reported as critical but stable.
A case has been registered on the complaint of Muhammad Hanif, and further investigation is underway under relevant legal provisions.
