MULTAN, Nov 02 (APP): In a continued crackdown on the sale of unwholesome meat, the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) confiscated and destroyed four maunds of substandard meat during an inspection near Toll Plaza, Kabirwala.
According to PFA officials, a vehicle transporting meat for market supply was intercepted and inspected by the authority’s food safety team. The inspection, carried out under the supervision of a veterinary officer, revealed that the meat was foul-smelling and discolored, rendering it unfit for human consumption.
The PFA team destroyed the contaminated meat on the spot, while the vehicle was handed over to local police. The supplier was taken into custody, and an FIR was registered against the accused.
A PFA spokesperson urged the public to report food-related complaints and violations to the PFA helpline 1223, emphasizing the authority’s commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic food across the province.
