MULTAN, Oct 22 (APP):The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out a significant operation targeting fake dairy products in Vehari and discarded 500 kilograms of counterfeit desi ghee, 500 kilograms of vanaspati ghee and 100 kilograms of substandard khoya (a traditional dairy product).
Under the leadership of Director Operations South, Zubair Ahmed Ijaz, a food safety team inspected two dairy manufacturing units and one oil production facility in Adda Gaggu Mandi, Adda Karam Pur Mailsi and Street No 1 Danewal. The adulteration and poor quality ingredients were found in the production of these dairy products. The production was halted utill improvements and case was got registered against dairy unit owners.
Furthermore, a fine of Rs. 200,000 was imposed on the oil production unit for violating health and safety standards.
DG PFA said that the raids were underway against anti- health elements under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister.
He urged the citizens to report about food adulteration or fraudulent practices on PFA helpline at 1223.
