LAHORE, Nov 16 (APP): Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has uncovered another network of food adulterators in the city, as a fake milk production unit operating in a residential house in Natho Ki, on the city’s outskirts, was raided and sealed.
PFA Director General Asim Javed told the media on Sunday that the operation was
carried out after extensive surveillance, during which the entire network involved in
manufacturing and supplying fake milk was identified.
During the raid, the PFA team seized 400 litres of adulterated milk, a supplier vehicle,
multiple large cans, 32 bags of powder, and 55 empty sacks. Various harmful ingredients
used to prepare fake milk, including chemical-laced powders, substandard ghee, and
thickening agents, were also recovered from the location. One accused was arrested
on the spot, and a case has been registered against him for engaging in food fraud.
DG Food Authority Asim Javed said that the group was producing fake milk late at night
and early in the morning to supply it to shops across the area. On-the-spot testing confirmed
that the seized milk was unsafe for human consumption and was immediately destroyed.
He warned that the ingredients used in adulterated milk pose serious risks to public health.
He added that the entire operation was part of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s
food safety mission, which aims to protect the health of Lahore’s residents by eliminating
adulteration mafias. “A group secretly producing fake milk inside a residential area had been caught red-handed. Under the Chief Minister’s directives, strict action is being taken against all those involved in food adulteration,” the DG said.
Asim Javed urged citizens to play their part by reporting any suspicious activity related
to adulteration through the PFA helpline 1223 or via inbox on the authority’s official
Facebook page. He added that a new international-standard policy is being introduced
to ensure the provision of pure and safe milk across Punjab.
