PESHAWAR, Jan 15 (APP):The Safe City Project aimed at strengthening urban security in Peshawar is nearing completion and will be formally inaugurated on January 31, according to SSP Operations Peshawar on Thursday.
Speaking to the media, the SSP said the installation of surveillance cameras across the city has already begun. In the first phase of the project, a total of 711 cameras will be installed at 133 key locations, out of which nearly 60 percent have already been installed.
He added that 90 percent of the work on the Command and Control Center established at Police Lines has been completed. The center will monitor video feeds and data received from across the city in real time.
According to the SSP, the Safe City Project will help in identifying suspects, tracing criminal activities, preventing terrorism and significantly improving the traffic management system. He further stated that the project would prove to be an important step toward making Peshawar a safer and more modern city.
