PESHAWAR, Sep 09 (APP):PESCO has narrowed the scope against power thieves after the instruction of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Minister of Energy by taking timely actions against electricity theft all across the province.
Hundreds of ropes (Kunda’s) were removed in Peshawar, Mardan, Khyber and Bannu and other areas. Spokesperson PESCO told media men here on Saturday. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, more than 400 Kunda’s have been removed so far, the PESCO Spokesperson informed.
Fines of more than Rs. 50 million have been imposed for electricity theft and applications submitted for registration of FIR against more than 200 electricity thieves, he disclosed. He said, several electricity thieves were arrested on the spot and handed over to the Police. Despite the resistance of the electricity thieves, the operation continued on behalf of PESCO, the Spokesperson said.
Security is being provided to PESCO Task Forces by the district administration and PESCO customers can report electricity theft by calling 118, the Spokesperson PESCO said.
