PESHAWAR, Jan 20 (APP):For the third time in a row, the provincial assembly session was adjourned due to a lack of quorum, drawing sharp criticism from Awami National Party (ANP) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Nisar Baz.
He condemned the repeated adjournments as a blatant waste of taxpayers’ money and a serious blow to democratic governance.
Speaking to the media at the provincial assembly on Monday, Nisar Baz criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government for its lack of seriousness.
“The people elected their representatives to legislate and address public issues, but the ruling party has shown no commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities,” he remarked.
Baz expressed concern over the growing trend of absenteeism among lawmakers, which has made quorum failures a routine occurrence.
He emphasized that such negligence was damaging to democratic institutions and public trust.
The MPA noted that Monday’s session was particularly significant, as it was set to address the future of 16,000 employees recruited during the caretaker government’s tenure. However, the session’s premature adjournment had delayed crucial discussions on this pressing issue.
“The government’s actions are not just unjust but also deeply alarming,” Baz stated, accusing the ruling party of unjustly terminating these employees to replace them with their loyalists. “This is an outright violation of justice and a direct attack on the livelihoods of thousands of families,” he added.
On the occasion of the death anniversary of Bacha Khan, the iconic leader of non-violence and democracy, Nisar Baz paid glowing tribute to his enduring legacy.
He lauded Bacha Khan’s lifelong struggle for democracy, non-violence, and the rights of the underprivileged, asserting that the ANP remains steadfast in upholding his vision.
