Over Rs115.8 million released for treatment of special children of police employees

LAHORE, Jun 21 (APP): The Punjab Police has released over Rs. 115.8 million this year for the treatment of special children of serving personnel posted across various districts, including Lahore.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, Rs. 26.5 million have been allocated for cochlear implant surgeries of 16 children, while Rs. 995,000 have been released for the treatment of 13 children suffering from other hearing-related impairments.
A monthly allowance of Rs. 10,000 is being provided to children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, with 632 beneficiaries receiving a total of Rs. 56.2 million this year. Similarly, for 161 children affected by thalassemia, a monthly grant of Rs. 15,000 is being disbursed, with overall expenditures crossing Rs. 14.1 million.
Punjab Police has also allocated Rs. 9.248 million for the treatment of 60 children with various critical illnesses. For 12 children undergoing cancer treatment and bone marrow transplants, Rs. 7.2 million have been released.
Additionally, for major heart and kidney surgeries, Rs. 1.495 million were disbursed for 9 children.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that the Punjab Police is committed to the welfare of police employees by prioritizing specialized medical treatment and support for their children with special needs.
He added the department is taking comprehensive and long-term measures for the rehabilitation, medical care, and financial support of special children. He added that these initiatives reflect the department’s unwavering dedication to the dignity, comfort, and quality of life of its personnel’s families.
