Over 8,000 Foreign tourists visited KP’s Northern Areas last year

PESHAWAR, Jan 06 (APP):Secretary Culture and Tourism Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Saadat Hassan, said that under the vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and on the special directives of Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, comprehensive measures are being taken to promote tourism across the province.
He said that all possible facilities are being provided to local and foreign tourists, due to which tourism authorities in the northern regions are working round the clock.
He expressed these views while talking to the media during his visit to China Window, a Chinese Cultural and Information Centre established in Peshawar.
During the visit, the Secretary toured various galleries of China Window, signed the Friendship Wall, and recorded his remarks in the visitors’ book.
Saadat Hassan stated that the Culture and Tourism Department is making dedicated efforts to promote tourism, preserve cultural heritage, and introduce the ancient Gandhara civilization to the world.
He revealed that more than 8,000 foreign tourists visited the northern areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa last year, which he termed highly encouraging.
In addition, millions of domestic tourists are regularly visiting the province.
Reaffirming his commitment to strengthening cultural cooperation between Pakistan and China, the Secretary said that Pak-China friendship is time-tested and exemplary.
He added that the provincial government is fully prepared to extend every possible cooperation with China in the fields of tourism and culture.
He also proposed the exchange of cultural delegations between China and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that such initiatives would further strengthen bilateral relations.
Terming the establishment of China Window in Peshawar as a commendable initiative, Saadat Hassan said the center is playing a significant role in promoting Pak-China friendship as well as cultural harmony, which is worthy of appreciation and emulation.
Earlier, the Secretary was briefed about China Window and informed that the number of visitors to this state-of-the-art center has exceeded 400,000.
He was also told that the 75th anniversary of Pak-China friendship will be celebrated with great enthusiasm this year, with a series of events planned throughout the year.
On the occasion, Administrator China Window Amjad Aziz Malik presented a commemorative shield to the Secretary for Culture and Tourism.
