Olive cultivation to be expanded in Abbottabad: Sarmad Saleem

ABBOTTABAD, Dec 09 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram has said that the district holds great potential for olive cultivation and assured full support to farmers for improving packaging, marketing, and modern oil-extraction facilities.
He made these remarks while speaking at the Olive Festival 2025, organized by the Agriculture Office Abbottabad.
According to the details, the Agriculture Office Abbottabad organized the Olive Festival 2025, featuring participation from farmers, growers, and producers associated with olive cultivation.
The DC visited various stalls set up by local growers, where olive-based products, packaging, and processing displays were showcased. The Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction over the quality of products and encouraged individuals linked with the olive value chain.
Stalls from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan also displayed a variety of olive-derived items. Honey, organic food products, perfumes, cosmetics, and other chemical-free consumables were also exhibited during the festival.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the district’s potential for olive cultivation and emphasized improved packaging, marketing, and modern machinery for oil extraction. He directed the District Director Agriculture to address the challenges faced by farmers and ensure better facilities for olive production.
The event concluded with the distribution of shields to participants who demonstrated outstanding performance.
