RAWALPINDI, Jul 10 (APP):Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak and RPO Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfraz Alpa presided over a high level meeting at Police Lines Headquarters to review security arrangements made during the month of Muharram.
CPO Khalid Hamdani, SSP Operations, SSP Investigation, SP CIA, Divisional SPs, SDPOs, DSP Headquarters, DSP Legal, in-charge branches and other officers were present in the meeting.
CPO Khalid Hamdani briefed Commissioner Rawalpindi and RPO Rawalpindi on security arrangements regarding Muharram.
“We will all ensure peace and effective security arrangements during Muharram,” the Commissioner said and added that district administration and police were working together to maintain peace during Muharram.
He said all steps should be taken to ensure peace and security of Muharram and all processions and meetings.
RPO Babar Sarfaraz also reviewed the performance of the officers during the meeting and gave instructions.
Keeping in view the forecast of Meteorological Department, along with security, other necessary measures have also been taken, the RPO said.
Senior officers brief the officers posted on duty about arrangements and duties.
“15 Prompt response to calls and timely registration of FIR should be ensured in all cases, negligence and carelessness will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” the RPO added.
He said there has been a reduction in the ratio of other crimes including street crime which have to be reduced further with collective efforts.
In other serious cases including murder, robbery, challans should be issued in a timely manner while ensuring the arrest of the accused, the RPO said.
He said the crackdown against drugs should be scaled up, as the success of the crackdown against drugs is linked to the conviction of the accused.
He instructed Supervisory Officers to check the progress of the cases under investigation on a daily basis, rectify the deficiencies found in the investigation.
CPO Khalid Hamdani said that all measures are being taken for foolproof security of all Majlis and processions during Muharram.
Rawalpindi Police is working diligently day and night to establish an atmosphere of law and order in the city, the CPO said.
