LAHORE, Nov 29 (APP): Provincial Minister for Local Government and Community Development Zeeshan Rafique on Saturday directed Chief Executive Officers to implement proper waste segregation at dumping sites, emphasizing that effective segregation is essential for better utilization of waste.
He made the remarks while presiding over a meeting at the Civil Secretariat, where directions were also issued to advance the waste-to-energy project. The minister highlighted that foreign companies have shown interest in producing biogas, electricity, and bricks from waste collected across Punjab.
Zeeshan Rafique said the Punjab government would take all possible steps to facilitate such initiatives and stressed that teamwork is vital for the success of the second phase of the ‘Suthra Punjab’ campaign. He noted that the waste-to-energy project would not only promote a healthier environment but also boost economic activities.
Additionally, the minister emphasized the strict implementation of government directives to tackle smog during the winter season.
