Mepco to install over 28000 new connections by July end: CEO

MULTAN, Jul 23 (APP):Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) is all set to clear backlog of new connection requests and geared up to install 28766 new domestic and commercial connections by the end of  ongoing month, July 2025.
These are the applicants who had deposited demand notices till June 30, 2025 and all the Mepco circles have been instructed to complete the task by July end and submit compliance report, said Mepco Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Gul Muhammad Zahid in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Director Material Management Malik Javed Wains, a massive distribution of equipment has already been initiated to expedite the process. A total of 28,766 single-phase static meters and 287,000 meters of PVC wire have been dispatched to various Mepco circles to facilitate the installations.
The initiative will benefit 28,250 domestic and 516 commercial applicants whose demand notices were paid before the deadline.
According to statistics, total 6,079 single-phase meters and 60,790 meters of PVC wire were sent to Mepco Multan circle, 3,147 meters and 31,470 meters of wire to Vehari circle, 4,480 meters and 44,800 meters of wire to Sahiwal Circle,  4,321 meters and 43,210 meters of wire to
Rahim Yar Khan Circle, 2,857 meters and 28,570 meters of wire to Muzaffargarh Circle, 3,649 meters and 36,490 meters of wire to Bahawalnagar Circle, and 4,233 meters and 42,330 meters of wire to Khanewal Circle.
Superintending engineers in each operational circle have been instructed to ensure the installation of all pending connections by the end of July 2025 and they are required to submit completion reports to Mepco headquarters promptly.
This decisive move is part of Mepco’s broader commitment to improve service delivery and ensure timely provision of power infrastructure to consumers.
