Meeting highlights consumer rights

SARGODHA, Oct 17 (APP):Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Majid Bin Ahmad on Friday presided over a meeting of the District Consumer Protection Council and discussed measures to protect consumer rights and improve the effectiveness of the council.
The Assistant Director (Legal) and Secretary District Consumer Protection Council briefed the members on recent amendments to the Punjab Consumer Protection Act, says a press release issued here.
The meeting reviewed the progress of decisions made in the previous meeting.
The ADC directed that the consumer desks at the tehsil level be made functional and effective to address consumer complaints.
The council emphasized the need to raise awareness among consumers about their rights and distribute written material and display banners at prominent places.
During the meeting, the Council urged The Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry to play an active role in ensuring that rate lists are displayed in markets and expiration dates are marked on food items.
The council emphasized the need for effective implementation of consumer protection laws to safeguard consumer rights.
