MDCAT successfully conducted across Punjab for admission to medical and dental colleges

LAHORE, Oct 26 (APP):The Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) was successfully conducted on Sunday across Punjab for admission to medical and dental colleges.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique congratulated Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Azmat Mahmood Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore and other concerned officers. The MDCAT was organised by the University of Health Sciences. The MDCAT was supervised by Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood Khan himself, Vice Chancellors, Principals and officers of the Health Department. The exam was conducted in 27 centers in 12 cities in which a total of 50,461 candidates participated. The exam papers were delivered to the centers at 6 am under tight security. Police, district administration and security personnel supervised the delivery of the sealed papers.  The examination staff reached the centers early in the morning while the arrival of candidates started at 8 am. The doors of the centers were opened at 8 am and candidates were allowed to enter after identity verification. All candidates were checked through body searches, walk-through gates and metal detectors. All the doors were closed at 9 am after which no one was allowed to enter. Section 144 was imposed around all the centers while the use of mobile phones was banned. A total of 36,702 female students and 13,759 male students participated in the exam. Lahore had the highest number of 11,906 candidates who appeared for the exam at six centers. The MDCAT exam was conducted at Punjab University Examination Hall, Government Graduate College for Women Gulberg, University of Education Township, DPS Township, BISE Halls, and Lahore College for Women University. To supervise the examination, 3,263 school teachers were appointed as invigilators, 165 college teachers as superintendents and 347 as deputy superintendents, who were tested by the Special Branch. The examination began at 10 am and ended at 1 pm.
Secretary Department of Specialized Health and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood Khan visited various centers in Lahore. He was accompanied by Special Secretary Operations Nabila Irfan, Vice Chancellor UHS Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Prof Mahmood Ayaz, Principal Amir ud din Medical College Prof Farooq Afzal, Pro Vice Chancellor UHS Prof Nadia Naseem, Pro Vice Chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof Junaid Rashid and Registrar KEMU Prof Asghar Naqi. Federal Secretary for National Health Services Regulations and Coordination Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh visited Government Graduate College for Women Gulberg. On this occasion, the UHS team Dr. Sidra Saleem, Prof. Asif Naveed and Dr. Usman Aftab gave a briefing. Fatima Jinnah Medical University Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal was also present as the regional in-charge. UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore himself inspected the Punjab University center and reviewed the test. Strict measures were taken to ensure transparent conduct of the examination and no concession was made to any candidate who came late or with suspicious identity.
