LODHRAN, Jun 10 (APP): Police arrested a person over a hoax call to the police helpline here on Tuesday.
According to a spokesperson for police, Syed Shahbaz Hussain informed the emergency helpline, Pukar 15, that Sajid had allegedly kidnapped his nephew, Shahzaib. Upon receiving the call, city police promptly responded but no such incident had occurred. The police asked about the incident from local people but no one confirmed it.
Further inquiry revealed that the caller had made a fake call to implicate Sajid over a personal grudge.
A case was registered against the accused.
District Police Officer (DPO) Kamran Mumtaz said that fake calls were not only violation of law but also wastage of masses resources. He said that strict action would be taken against violators.
