PESHAWAR, Nov 04 (APP):A man was killed when a decayed tree fell onto a passenger van in Sarai Payan area of Talash tehsil in Dir Lower.
According to local police on Tuesday, the deceased has been identified as Muhammad Hayat, a resident of Akhagram, Upper Dir. Rescue personnel used heavy machinery to remove the injured from the van.
Reports indicate that Muhammad Hayat was initially rushed to the hospital in an injured condition but later succumbed to his injuries. Locals staged a protest against what they termed departmental negligence leading to the incident.
Meanwhile, heavy storms, rainfall, and hail have paralyzed normal life in the region. The severe weather has caused significant damage to tomato crops, disrupted traffic flow and knocked out power in several areas.
Officials said the fallen tree blocked the main highway connecting four districts for several hours, causing major inconvenience to travelers.
