LAHORE, Jul 12 (APP):Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) Director General Sikandar Zeeshan chaired a meeting at the PHATA headquarters on Saturday to assess progress and address field-level challenges in the implementation of the province’s flagship housing loan scheme, Apni Chhat Apna Ghar.
The meeting was held on the directions of Punjab Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin, as part of the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to realize Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of affordable housing for all.
Representatives from key partner organizations, including Akhuwat, the National Rural Support Programme (NRSP), and the Rural Community Development Programme (RCDP), participated in the meeting alongside senior PHATA officials. Participants discussed operational challenges and shared suggestions aimed at improving efficiency and outreach in loan disbursement.
DG Sikandar Zeeshan praised the performance of partner institutions, noting that the initiative had already surpassed a major milestone. He revealed that more than 51,900 deserving families have received interest-free housing loans totaling Rs. 60.5 billion within just six months, enabling them to begin construction of their own homes under the program. He stressed the importance of timely implementation and directed relevant departments to expedite the screening process to ensure that a greater number of families can benefit from the scheme without unnecessary delays. Reaffirming PHATA’s full commitment to the Chief Minister’s housing agenda, he said that all available resources are being utilized to support low-income households in securing dignified shelter.
