LAHORE, Jan 01 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday rejected the bail application of an accused involved in a bounced cheque case, following which the accused attempted to flee but was promptly arrested by police.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa heard the bail plea of the accused, Faqeer Hussain. The accused appeared in court along with his counsel during the hearing.
The defence informed the court that a case had been registered against Faqeer Hussain at New Anarkali Police Station over a bounced cheque amounting to Rs 389,000. The defence argued that the matter was purely a financial transaction dispute and requested the court to grant bail to the accused.
Opposing the plea, the prosecution maintained that the accused had been found guilty during police investigation and was not entitled to bail. The prosecution further argued that the available evidence was against the accused and that granting bail could adversely affect the ongoing investigation.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa dismissed the bail application. Immediately after the court announced its decision, the accused attempted to escape from the courtroom. However, the investigation officer of New Anarkali Police Station, who was present on the spot, acted swiftly and took the accused into custody.
