LAHORE, Dec 18 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered for immediate restoration of pension, medical allowance and other benefits of former LESCO chief Shahid Haider while hearing a contempt of court petition filed by him.
Justice Shahid Karim issued the order and directed the incumbent LESCO chief and other relevant authorities to submit a compliance report at the next hearing.
During the proceedings, Shahid Haider appeared before the court along with his counsel, Chaudhry Imran Raza Chadhar.
The petitioner’s counsel argued that no inquiry or disciplinary action could be initiated on the basis of allegations after retirement, adding that the court had already barred any disciplinary proceedings against the former LESCO chief. Despite clear court orders, disciplinary action was allegedly taken against the petitioner.
The court was informed that Haider’s July pension, medical allowance and free electricity units had been stopped and that a formal letter dated July 9, 2025, had been issued to discontinue these benefits, which was termed a blatant violation of court orders.
The petitioner’s counsel requested the court to restore pension and other benefits of his client and to initiate contempt proceedings against the LESCO chief and other responsible officials for non-compliance.
After hearing the arguments, the court ordered the immediate restoration of the former LESCO chief’s pension, medical allowance and other privileges, sought a compliance report for the next hearing, and granted time to respondents to submit their replies to the contempt petition.
