LAHORE, Jun 10 (APP):Under the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Lahore General Hospital (LGH) successfully provided free, high-quality medical services to 10,033 patients in its Emergency Department during the four-day Eid-ul-Adha holidays. The services were delivered seamlessly without any slip fees or interruptions, ensuring accessibility for all.
According to LGH sources on Tuesday , the hospital conducted 2,047 X-rays, 621 ultrasounds, and 513 CT scans during this period. Principal of Amiruddin Medical College, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Faryad Hussain credited the success to the guidance of Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique. They emphasized that health professionals remain vigilant in delivering quality care and are committed to continuing their professional responsibilities.
Dr. Faryad Hussain briefed Prof. Afzal that free dialysis was provided for patients with kidney diseases, alongside ongoing treatment in the women and children’s departments. Prof. Afzal described medicine as a “messianic profession,” noting that the joy of alleviating patients’ suffering is invaluable. He urged doctors to continue raising awareness about preventing infectious diseases, encouraging the public to adopt precautionary measures for better health.
The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to accessible healthcare, with LGH setting a benchmark for compassionate and efficient medical services during the festive period.
