PESHAWAR, May 30 (APP):Chief Information Commissioner of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Farah Hamid Khan on Friday met her Punjab counterpart, Malik Muhammad Phulla, in Lahore to discuss ways to strengthen awareness and implementation of the Right to Information (RTI) law across both provinces.
The central focus of the meeting was to enhance public understanding of RTI laws, especially among citizens from underprivileged and remote areas where a significant communication gap exists between local communities and government institutions, said a press release issued here.
The commissioners discussed the launch of a flagship program aimed at delivering targeted training on RTI usage in such regions.
Both leaders pledged to adopt a joint strategy, in collaboration with civil society organizations, to proactively disclose key categories of public information as outlined in the RTI Act. The goal was to empower citizens, ensure transparency, and promote good governance.
During the meeting, the commissioners agreed to continue regular dialogue and to explore further joint initiatives, including the organization of workshops, public awareness campaigns, and proposals for legal and procedural reforms to reinforce the RTI framework.
The meeting marked a significant step toward inter-provincial collaboration in strengthening transparency and accountability through enhanced public access to information.
