PESHAWAR, Nov 11 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pavilion established by KP Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) in ongoing Islamabad Lok Mela has become a major attraction for local and international tourists.
Handicraft stalls representing culture of KP, traditional cuisine and cultural performances were included in the activities at KP pavilion in the event, said a release issued on Tuesday.
The 10-day cultural folk festival, organized by the National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) under the National Heritage & Culture Division features dedicated provincial pavilions from all provinces of Pakistan including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir.
More than 50 artisans from Abbottabad, D.I. Khan, Charsadda, Haripur, Mardan, Peshawar, Chitral, Mansehra, Swat and other districts are showcasing their products across 30 stalls featuring handicrafts and cultural items. Traditional KP foods — including Chapli Kabab, Saubat, Painda, Tikka Boti, Chicken Boti, Mutton Karahi, Amrasey, Jalebi, Charsadda Rice, Pulao — along with Kalashi and Khattak dance performances are further enriching the pavilion experience.
The pavilion features display stalls of traditional arts including pottery, Mughal art, Charsadda chappal, wood and stone carving, glass engraving, Hazara phulkari and bags, Swati shawls, truck art, marble mosaic work and calligraphy. Video documentaries featuring various tourist destinations of KP are also being screened.
