PESHAWAR, Jul 14 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Junior Squash Championship 2025, formally commenced at Qamar Zaman Squash Court in Peshawar Sports Complex on Monday.
The event was inaugurated by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Public Health Engineering Department and Chairman of Provincial Squash Association Daud Khan, along with Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,Tashfeen Haider.
The opening ceremony was specially attended by legendary squash players Jansher Khan and Qamar Zaman, Chief Organizer and Coach Munawar Zaman, General Secretary of the Squash Association Mansoor Zaman, Chief Coach Shafqatullah, Administrator of Peshawar Sports Complex and notable dignitaries from the sports community.
Over one hundred young athletes from across the province are participating in the championship under the U9, U11 and U13 categories. Matches will be held in various age groups ranging from U9 to U13. During the inaugural ceremony, sports kits were distributed among the players on behalf of the Provincial Squash Association.
Addressing the ceremony, Secretary Public Health Engineering Daud Khan emphasized the importance of identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level. He stated that focusing on children’s development in sports at an early age can lead to the emergence of future legends.
He lauded the Provincial Squash Association for consistently organizing events, especially for age groups under 13, terming their efforts commendable.
On this occasion, Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider reaffirmed the government’s commitment to utilizing all available resources for the promotion and development of sports in the province.
Squash legend Jansher Khan lauded the consistent efforts of the Provincial Association and said that such events play a vital role in refining skills of young players and enabling their progression in the sport.
