PESHAWAR, Oct 27 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Monday held a discussion regarding accountability procedures, during which former provincial minister Dr. Amjad Ali raised concerns over recent notices issued by investigative institutions including National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Speaking on the floor of the House, Dr. Amjad said he had received official notices from NAB, FIA, and Cyber Crime Wing after highlighting certain public issues.
He maintained that he had fully cooperated with the inquiries and urged that such matters be dealt with respectfully and transparently.
Responding to the concerns, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati expressed confidence that accountability institutions were functioning under legal frameworks but stressed the importance of coordination with the Assembly Secretariat.
He said that, following a recent meeting chaired by National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq with the NAB Chairman, it was agreed that provincial assemblies would be kept informed before initiating inquiries against elected representatives.
The Speaker said the provincial government believes in transparency, accountability, and protection of public representatives’ dignity.
He directed the Assembly Secretariat to arrange a meeting with the NAB Director General on Tuesday to ensure better coordination and to strengthen institutional cooperation.
