KARACHI, Dec 01 (APP): The general meeting of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Council was held on Monday at the Council Hall, KMC Head Office.
The meeting was chaired by Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab.
A total of seven resolutions were unanimously approved during the session, including four listed on the agenda and three private resolutions.
During the meeting, condolences and fateha were offered over the tragic death of a young child who fell into an open manhole in Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Among the resolutions approved by the City Council were: A joint venture between the KMC Estate Department and Zubair Associates for vertical charged parking at Bolton Market (third floor), Old City Area.
Leasing of Plot No. D-19 (4-acre vacant plot), Bus Terminal Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia Town (Katchi Abadis) for parking purposes.
Approval of the PC-I cost estimate for the improvement/rehabilitation (beautification) of roads and footpaths surrounding various commercial areas of Karachi.
Approval of the attached PC-I estimate for the improvement and rehabilitation of roads and footpaths in multiple business districts.
A private resolution unanimously passed by the Council approved long-term and sustainable measures for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities in Karachi, including the provision of monthly rations, education, essential facilities, and the establishment of institutions aimed at making disabled individuals skilled and employable.
Another resolution expressed heartfelt condolences over the passing of senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader Lal Bakhsh Bhutto, praying for his forgiveness, and approved renaming the Gutter Baghicha Treatment Plant in recognition of his political services.
A third resolution, approved unanimously, authorized the immediate commencement of repair works on both sides of Business Recorder Road—from Guru Mandir to Lasbela Signal—by including it among the 106 roads under KMC’s jurisdiction, in the larger public interest.
Various members shared their views during the meeting. Subsequently, the session was adjourned indefinitely
