LAHORE, Mar 06 (APP):Punjab Minister for Health and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique met with the head of Jamia Urwat-ul-Wusqa Lahore, Allama Syed Jawad Naqvi on Friday, and discussed matters related to peace, law and order, and other issues of mutual interest.
CEO COE-CVE Home Department Ghulam Saghir Shahid, Additional Secretary Home Abdul Rauf, ASP Model Town Kashmala Farooq, Qasim Ali Qasmi, Nasir Karbalai, Nazim-e-Ala Tauqeer Abbas, Principal Jamia and Coordinator Rizwan Abidi were also present during the meeting.
On the occasion, Fateha was also recited for Shaheed Sayyid Ayatollah Khamenei.
During the meeting, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a series of meetings with scholars belonging to different schools of thought is being held to promote peace and harmony in society. He said he was impressed by the teaching system of Jamia Urwat-ul-Wusqa, where both boys and girls are being introduced to modern and contemporary sciences along with religious education.
The provincial minister said scholars of all schools of thought are respected and acknowledged for their role in society, adding that religious scholars play a fundamental role in maintaining peace and order.
Speaking on the occasion, Allama Syed Jawad Naqvi appreciated the understanding and political vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He said the institution is ready to play its role in promoting unity among Muslims and strengthening harmony in society.
