LAHORE, Oct 26 (APP):Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said on Sunday that October 27, 1947, marks the darkest day in the history of subcontinent, when India illegally and forcibly occupied the State of Jammu and Kashmir in blatant violation of international law, human rights, and the principles of partition.
In a media statement, he said the people of Jammu and Kashmir never accepted India’s illegal occupation and had continued their courageous struggle for freedom for more than seven decades.
Despite relentless oppression and atrocities, the Kashmiri people are rendering unmatched sacrifices for their legitimate right to self-determination.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the government and people of Pakistan observe October 27 every year as “Kashmir Black Day” to remind the international community that India had deprived the people of Kashmir of their fundamental human rights and continues to defy United Nations’ resolutions.
He emphasized that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government stood firmly with the Kashmiri people. Across the province, rallies, seminars, and solidarity events were being organized to honor the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and to raise awareness among the younger generation about their just struggle.
The minister reiterated that Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan, and the freedom movement of Kashmiri people was a just, legal, and moral cause that must be acknowledged globally. He urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to ensure the implementation of its resolutions granting the Kashmiri people their inalienable right to self-determination.
Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiri people, saying that Pakistan would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with them and raise their voice for justice and freedom at every international forum.
