KARACHI, Oct 16 (APP): Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad Thursday said that youth were the nation’s valuable asset and it was our priority to bring them forward in the fields of leadership and public service.
He expressed these views in a meeting with students from the University of Karachi and other universities who visited the Deputy Mayor’s Secretariat at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Head Office as part of an awareness program on the local government system.
Students from the University of Karachi, Habib University and MITI participated in the program. The session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
KMC’s Financial Advisor, Gulzar Abro, briefed the students in detail about the various departments of KMC and their responsibilities.
Director of the City Institute of Image Management, Shahid, highlighted the objectives, scope, and contribution of the institute in providing municipal services. The students were also taken on a visit to the Land Department, 1339 Helpline, Council Department, and Record Room. Director Land, Adnan Zaidi, gave a comprehensive briefing on land records and the lease process.
The students showed special interest in the KMC Council Hall, where they were informed that elected representatives convene there to make important decisions for the city’s development and the improvement of civic facilities.
