LAHORE, Jul 28 (APP):Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, chaired a meeting on Monday regarding the infrastructure, logistics and administrative matters of the Riot Management Police at the Central Police Office.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials including Additional IG Riot Management Police Khurram Shakoor, DIG Riot Management Police Asad Sarfraz Khan, DIG Welfare and Finance Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, and AIG Shaista Nadeem.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasised that the Riot Management Police play a pivotal role in maintaining law and order across the province. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to equip the force with modern training techniques and capabilities. He further noted that the first batch of 3,000 personnel has successfully completed advanced training, and their postings have now been finalised. The eight-week training programme was designed to ensure the highest standards of fitness, performance and expertise, he added and said trainees were put through a variety of specialised drills covering mob engagement, crowd control techniques and the use of various tools such as water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets, stun grenades, long-range acoustic devices and drones. The course also included essential modules on first aid, evacuations, arrests, and advanced party operations.
The IGP Punjab reiterated the commitment to continually modernise the Riot Management Police to ensure they are fully equipped to handle law and order challenges efficiently and effectively.
