KARACHI, Oct 03 (APP):Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi to review ongoing efforts for the arrest of absconding and proclaimed offenders in murder cases.
The meeting was attended in person by Additional IGPs of CTD, Training, Headquarters, Establishment, Admin Karachi, T&T, Finance, and Special Branch, while zonal and divisional DIGPs, CIA officers, and SSPs joined via video link. AIGP Operations briefed participants on police actions and progress achieved so far.
According to the briefing, swift and effective police measures have led to a noticeable reduction in the number of absconders and proclaimed offenders in murder cases. The report highlighted that, compared to last year, the overall number of fugitives has decreased by 22 percent, while proclaimed offenders are down by 14 percent.
The IGP directed district officers to activate special teams for arresting murder case fugitives and make such arrests part of their daily priorities. He further instructed them to personally review progress on a weekly basis and to strengthen coordination with departments in other provinces to apprehend fugitives hiding there.
Ghulam Nabi Memon emphasized the need to use modern tools such as the Talash App, Hotel Eye, and the EVS application for tracing suspects at public places, hotels, bus terminals, and railway stations. While acknowledging that results this year are better than last, he urged police officials to accelerate efforts and deliver even stronger outcomes by the next review meeting.
