ICT Police hand over arrested suspects to Rawalpindi in shocking hair-cutting case

ISLAMABAD, Nov 25 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police handed over several suspects to Rawalpindi authorities after the alleged forced hair-cutting of a woman, an incident that triggered widespread condemnation on social media and was later confirmed to have occurred within the Rawalpindi police limits.
A police official told APP on Tuesday that ICT Police launched swift action after a video of a woman’s hair being forcibly cut went viral online, with many users incorrectly claiming that the incident took place in the jurisdiction of Lohi Bher Police Station, Islamabad.
He said ICT Police teams conducted multiple raids at different locations and successfully traced both the woman seen in the footage and the individuals reportedly involved.
During the investigation, it was determined that the incident had not occurred in Islamabad. Instead, the official confirmed, the act took place one and a half months ago within Rawalpindi’s jurisdiction, not Lohi Bher.
The affected woman was located and recorded her statement before ICT Police, confirming the actual location of the occurrence. Several individuals taken into custody during initial raids were also questioned.
After confirming jurisdiction, the woman and the detained suspects are being handed over to the Rawalpindi Police for further legal proceedings.
The spokesperson said SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza took immediate notice of the viral video, ordered a detailed report, and commended Lohi Bher Police for their timely action, swift tracing and preventing misinformation from spreading.
He added that the woman was a resident of Dhoke Khaba, and the incident occurred on Misrial Road. She is known to be a social media activist, and the matter is now being fully pursued by Rawalpindi Police.
