RAWALPINDI, Jul 17 (APP):With heavy monsoon rains hitting major parts of the province, the Punjab Home Department has enforced Section 144 to address flooding dangers and protect lives.
Rawalpindi administration has also implemented the orders in response to the city’s severe downpour, which has recorded over 230 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours, creating concerns about waterlogging and safety.
Many reported streets turning into pools as rainwater collected in Pindi, prompting a strict ban on bathing or playing in areas nearing rain drains as well as in low lying localities.
The government has also outlawed swimming and boating in Rawalpindi’s rivers, canals, and lakes due to strong currents and drowning risks.
The 45-day restriction has been imposed to save lives amid the monsoon.
