LAHORE, Oct 29 (APP):The Punjab government has decided to establish a modern Command and Control Centre on the Lahore Ring Road to ensure efficient traffic management and enforcement of laws through advanced artificial intelligence and smart monitoring systems.
The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by Provincial Minister for Communication and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth, held here on Wednesday.
During a detailed briefing, the minister was informed about the project, which will be managed by the HR Division of the Punjab Ring Road Authority. The meeting was attended by Secretary Communication and Works Sohail Ashraf, Chairman Ring Road Authority Faisal Fareed, and senior officials of relevant departments.
Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth said the new centre would monitor around 150,000 vehicles daily, helping to detect traffic violations and improve safety on the Ring Road. The Intelligent Transport System will be linked with the Command and Control Centre and will feature AI-controlled cameras, speed radars, weigh stations, and mobile phone usage monitoring.
He said the facility, to be established at the Authority’s head office, will be equipped with 42 large screens and 20 analytical displays for real-time supervision. The project will be completed within four months at a cost of Rs 871 million, enabling state-of-the-art monitoring of all vehicular movement on the Lahore Ring Road, he added.
