Govt committed to promoting interfaith harmony, national unity: Minister Salman

LAHORE, Nov 06 (APP): Punjab Health Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that Islam is the religion of peace and security and that the secret of Pakistan’s development lies in a prosperous and peaceful state.
He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation of scholars led by Allama Raghib Hussain Naeemi at the Home Department on Thursday. The meeting was held as part of a series of ongoing sessions with religious scholars on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Matters related to peace, law and order, and unity among Muslims were discussed in detail.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said that Islam teaches tolerance, brotherhood, and harmony among Muslims. He emphasized that all stakeholders, including national institutions, must play their vital role in the development and stability of Pakistan. “The State of Pakistan stands as the guardian of peace, brotherhood, and resistance to the culture of violence,” he said, adding that ensuring peace and prosperity is the shared responsibility of all segments of society.
The minister said that the distinguished scholars who follow the commands of Allah Almighty and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are the pride of the Muslim Ummah. “We will continue to seek guidance from scholars in light of Islamic teachings and the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” he added.
Secretary Home Department Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said that maintaining peace, protecting the lives, property, and honor of the people, and preventing disruptions in daily life are the fundamental duties of the state. He said that promoting unity among Muslims is essential and that it is the responsibility of scholars to educate people about the true spirit of Islam.
He added that the present circumstances demand peace, tolerance, and stability in society.
On this occasion, Secretary Auqaf Department Syed Tahir Raza Bukhari, Additional Secretary Internal Security Ehsan Jamali, DIG Special Branch, DIG CTD, Colonel (R) Shahzad, and other officials were present.
The delegation of scholars included Dr. Mufti Intikhab Ahmed Noori, Mufti Muhammad Imran Hanafi, Pir Muhammad Hafeez Azhar, Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, and Pir Muaz Mustafa Qadri.
