RAWALPINDI, Jan 31 (APP): Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan highlighted the pivotal role of education and youth in driving Pakistan’s progress particularly in technological advancement. He urged the students to learn Seerat in Nabi (PBUH).
Addressing the 7th Convocation of HITEC University which was held at the Jinnah Convention Center, Islamabad, the governor stressed that with 64% of Pakistan’s population comprising youth, the nation’s future is intrinsically tied to their potential and efforts. He congratulated the graduates and their parents on this significant milestone, noting that HITEC University alumni are making meaningful contributions to Pakistan’s technological advancement and are employed at prestigious national and international institutions.
Drawing inspiration from Islamic teachings, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan described Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the ultimate role model, urging graduates to study Seerat-un-Nabi to build constructive and positive character traits.
He commended the Vice Chancellor and faculty for their dedication to academic excellence and the university’s growing reputation, describing the institution’s overall academic performance and development as highly gratifying.
The ceremony saw a total of 1,166 degrees awarded across various programs, including 14 PhD degrees, 93 MS degrees, and 1,059 undergraduate degrees in fields such as Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Civil, Biomedical, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Islamic Studies and Mathematics.
Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. Kamran Afaq in his welcoming address outlined the university’s key achievements over the past two years. He announced the introduction of new programs, including Civil Engineering, BS Biomedical Engineering, MS Computer Engineering, PhD Computer Science, and PhD Computer Engineering. He also highlighted the establishment of a High Voltage Research Laboratory for Electrical (Power) Engineering students—a facility available in only a limited number of engineering universities across Pakistan.
The Governor distributed medals and degrees to the graduating students, celebrating their hard work and the university’s commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in higher education.
